This evening, I worked in chapter which is not the current active chapter. I increased my word count (by a few hundred words) by expanding a (hopefully) sad and terrifying part of the story. The events of the current active chapter tie directly into the events of this other chapter and by working in this other chapter, my vision of the events in the current active chapter is made clearer. Something like that, anyway.
